My first campaign promise
There’s now a write-in campaign to make me Cobb County tax commissioner. I’m up to three votes! That’s three hundred percent more than I had this time yesterday!
That I live in DeKalb County is an unimportant detail. I figured I should have a platform, so here’s my first campaign promise, following Jen’s endorsement of me on Facebook:

I realize you’re a UT fan, Rusty, but as a GT alum, out of school over 4 decades, I still know 3 is not 300% of 0. What do you get when you divide 3 by 0?
Just joshing ya.
October 31st, 2008 at 11:12 amThis lack of comprehension of basic mathematical concepts probably explains why you’re buying the math in BO’s campaign promises.
October 31st, 2008 at 11:14 amQuite possibly. Although, I am tempted to buy a house and default on my mortgage so John McCain will buy it from me. Seems like the most sound investment someone could make in these troubled financial times.
October 31st, 2008 at 11:18 amYeah, Rusty, the promises made on BOTH sides as we come down to the wire are getting a bit ridiculous.
The Federal government can’t bail out every person who is in financial trouble.
Many people who are voting for Obama will be very disappointed (assuming he is elected, as it appears he will be) in what he can actually deliver to solve the problems they got into by not making responsible decisions.
October 31st, 2008 at 11:25 amLOL. This is great. Too bad I already voted. And live in Fulton County.
October 31st, 2008 at 11:29 amGun play… ha… sounds like a fetish.
October 31st, 2008 at 11:46 amIt kind of is.
October 31st, 2008 at 11:48 amI would have definitely written you in for the Fulton TC spot if I had known before I voted. I wrote in “None of the above”.
October 31st, 2008 at 12:35 pmHa, nice Garrett. I love going through the full results when they become available to see all the “Donald Duck” and “He-Man” and “Mickey Mouse” votes cast.
We should in all seriousness run a write-in campaign for “None of the above” next time out.
October 31st, 2008 at 12:37 pmYeah, I think writing “None of the above” makes a particularly effective statement when the candidate is running opposed, as Ferdinand is.
October 31st, 2008 at 2:17 pmOk so am I supposed to write in Rusty Tanton or Russell Tanton- don’t want there to be any confusion about who our next tax commissioner is.
November 3rd, 2008 at 11:40 amI think everybody else is writing Rusty, so let’s run with that. Thanks for your vote!
November 3rd, 2008 at 11:42 amYeah I expect kickbacks
November 3rd, 2008 at 12:25 pm[...] Vote Rusty Tanton for Cobb County Tax Commissioner because he will “take all your money at gunpoint and give it to MARTA.” [...]
