Our new kitchen in Tennessee Orange

I like how sometimes people think I’m kidding when I say things like “I’m going to paint my kitchen Tennessee Orange.” I’ve mocked up an approximation of what this would look like in Photoshop for your viewing pleasure:

Our new kitchen in Tennessee Orange

Technically this isn’t our kitchen until January 29. Knock on wood, everything seems in order to close on our new house that day. If you haven’t been reading Amber’s blog, here’s what it looks like:

  1. And the full set of pictures from the listing is here!

  2. I fully approve!!

  3. Oh, do it. You can get away with a lot more painting a kitchen than say a living room. I think it looks awesome.

  4. As much as the second photo makes me want to vomit, I have to admit that that’s an awesome-looking kitchen, Amber & Rusty. I mean, in the first photo. ;)

  5. She’s going to let you do that? Ha.

  6. Didn’t you see what our registry is called (on my site’s link, anyway – too many characters for Target), Decaturguy? “Amber and Rusty’s OMG we bought a house / non-heteronormative partnership gift registry.” There’s none of this ridiculous “let” business. C’mon get with it!

  7. Great house. Congrats on becoming a homeowner. I guess kids and a good Christian day school are not far off!

How fitting that your kitchen will be the same color as the Coleman frozen organic Buffalo-style chicken wings.

  9. I think the Coleman “wings” are more of a Texas Orange.

  10. Should have figured, Amber. Not really sure what a “non-heteronormative partnership” means, though.

    Congratulations though!

  11. Heh, but it’s a really big fancy learnin’ term, right??

    “non-heteronormative partnership”

    Yeah, what does that mean?

  13. Not conforming to “traditional” gender roles or modes of sexuality.

  14. [...] Friday night while Rusty is at a Hawks game I’m going to put a coat of primer on the walls in our soon-to-be bedroom. Then on Saturday we’re going to paint the bedroom and maybe the guest room/pole studio/my office if there’s time. Then Sunday I’m off to DC to rendezvous and scheme with Ren, back on Tuesday, and while I’m on the plane Rusty will be waiting for the AT&T person to come and get the phone line and DSL set up. Then, more painting most evenings of next week – and yes, Rusty is going to paint the kitchen Tennessee orange. [...]

  17. [...] we first moved into our house earlier this year, I toyed with the idea of painting our kitchen Tennessee Orange. Fortunately, I ended up being preoccupied with other projects and never got around to it. I say [...]
